I sat down hard on the bare, dew slick earth. A few tussocks of grass flickered and swayed like a feeble fire, edged with the lacy brown and yellow of new spring.
I pulled my knees close to my chest and closed my eyes, shivering in the chilled twilight air. My hands ached with the cold dawn and I wrung them, but nothing seemed to help now. I'd been doing to much healing, the arthritis was getting worse and just this last night I was sure I'd aged them into the constant pain of the older healers who had taught me.
